New Transit to Cavendish and Area!

One of the biggest concerns of employers in District 18 Rustico-Emerald is the ability to get enough employees during the tourist season. One reason is that people are available to work, but don't have the ability to get to where they are needed in New Glagsow, North Rustico, Cavendish and Stanley Bridge. It is great to see that government is listening and working with the various stakeholders to put a transit system in place! Hopefully it will also be available to our tourism visitors.

2017 Charlottetown - Cavendish Employee Transit Development Tourism Cavendish Beach has been in on-going discussions with eyes on the development of a new employee transit system; offering transportation for employees travelling from the Charlottetown area and arriving to the North Shore, including stops in New Glasgow, North Rustico, Cavendish and possibly Stanley Bridge. This is a very exciting new development for the region, which will create new opportunities for operators throughout the region. In partnership with Economic Development & Tourism, Workforce and Advanced Learning, The Resort Municipality and Discover Charlottetown, we have developed a tentative plan to allow employers to hire employees from the Charlottetown area and have transportation provided over a 73 day operating period. This has been in response to feedback received from operators, who feel the need for this new linkage. A commitment of 2 years initially, will allow the time to grow the service. The service will not only provide transport for employees but also provide options for visitors interested in travelling to and from either destination. New packaging and product opportunities will be made available in the spring. We are seeking interested industry partners to make this a viable option for 2017 and beyond. Local business operators may join us as a partner and participate in the service by purchasing seats in advance for the upcoming season. The service will only operate, contingent on the interest and investment of a minimum of 5 operators or 10 employee seats purchased. We understand that this will take time to determine, as you begin hiring staff for the 2017 season. The following is a breakdown of the scheduling and cost for the service. These details may adjust slightly based on need but should give a very good initial expectation. Schedule The service will operate on the following tentative schedule for the 2017, beginning on June 23, 2017 and running through till it's last day on September 3, 2017. The bus would be expected to operate on 3 runs per day and the route would include, pick-up in Charlottetown and then continue through New Glasgow, North Rustico and ultimately Cavendish. There is a possibility for a stop in Stanley Bridge as well, if the need is there.

Pricing has been developed based on a $10 round trip fare for employees and $20 round trip for a visitor. Seasonal rates are based on a discount on a 73 day operation for employers and a 5-day workweek for employees or approximately 51 days. As mentioned, pricing and schedule may vary slightly to suit the needs of all industry partners but should hold very similar to the projected.
